1 - How can I clean the scale filter in my Tefal kettle?

Simply rinse and brush the filter under the tap regularly to remove any loose scale and prevent the filter from becoming blocked with lime scale.
You can also soak it in lemon juice or white vinegar overnight.

2 - How do I clean the plastic or metal body?

Simply clean the outside with a damp cloth (with a spot of vinegar if necessary) and descale the inside.
Never use metal abrasives, scouring powder, non-scratch cream cleanser or any other cleaning products as they may discolour the plastic
Be careful never to immerse the kettle, the cord, plug or power base in water!

3 -  How do I descale my kettle?

We recommend:
1) either white vinegar:
Fill the kettle with 500ml of strong white vinegar. Leave to soak for 1 hour without boiling.
or citric acid:
Boil 500 ml of water. Add 25 g of citric acid. Leave to soak for 15 minutes.

2) then discard the mixture: Rinse the kettle with clear water five times before using.

IMPORTANT - do not use other descaling agents such as those based on either formic or sulphaminic acid.

4 - How much power is consumed on standby by Quick&Hot?

Approx. 1.24 W

5 - My kettle does not switch off.

Generally caused by boiling the water with the lid open: the steam cut-off cannot work.

6 - My kettle switches off before it has boiled

Generally caused by scale build-up inside: read the instruction leaflet carefully to descale your kettle.

Alternatively, the kettle may have accidentally been used without water or insufficient water (an element must always be covered by water), causing the safety cut-off device to operate. Reset in the following way: wait 5 minutes for the kettle to cool and then refill with water. Push the on/off switch and after about 15 minutes the kettle will automatically reset itself and start to boil.

7 - Quick&Hot -  Is the water in the tank already hot?

Absolutely not! And this is why Quick&Hot is so revolutionary. The water in the tank comes straight from your cold tap. The cold water goes from the tank to a pump and then is heated instantly via a spiral movement.

8 - Quick&Hot - A little water splashes from the spout at the start of filling a cup. Is this normal?

Yes, it could happen that some water splashes at the start of filling or during the first use of the appliance, but to avoid splashing, we recommend you use a taller cup or you simply lift it closer to the spout.

9 - Can the Quick&Hot work without the cartridge?

Yes! Unlike other filter machines in the market, you can still use Quick & Hot without the filter cartridge and have your favourite drink ready in 3 seconds. However, if you live in an area affected by hard water, Tefal strongly advises you to use the cartridge in order to provide better tasting, healthier water and to reduce lime scale.

10 - Quick&Hot - What temperature does the water reach?

The water leaves the Quick&Hot at 90 degrees C.

Quick&Hot is ideal for instant coffee, green and white teas, instant gravy and hot chocolate.
For pure black teas (eg Assam, Darjeeling) and blended teas (eg from Tetley or PG Tips tea bags) a hotter temperature is recommended for a fuller flavour - but is not essential.

It is all down to personal taste and certainly even though some packs of tea state that boiling water should be used, even from a kettle once poured the water has already gone off the boil and is around 95 degrees when it hits the cup.
It is a fact that water heated at more than 95 deg will burn the tea leaves and eliminate all the essential flavours. The temperature will drop depending on how cold the cup is and how cold the milk used is.

We recommend to warm the cup first for best results.

11 - The inside of my kettle is brown or black

In some areas where the water contains a high quantity of iron, the natural limescale deposit inside your kettle can be tainted brown or black.

12 - The water has a plastic taste

Generally this only occurs on the first use and is not a problem if the water boiled on initial use is discarded.

If the problem persists, fill the kettle to Max level and add 2 teaspoons of bicarbonate of soda. Boil and discard water.

13 - The water turns cloudy

If you live in a hard water area this is normal and is caused by calcium and magnesium carbonates in the water and therefore regular descaling will be essential.
If you wish to find out more about the type of water in you area, your local company can give you advice. Their telephone number can be found on your water bill.
